2009 Walk Crowd Walking     2009 Walk Kick-off

The Children's Cancer Fund 13th Annual Walk

Hopeful, smiling faces fill FDR State Park in Yorktown Heights, NY each year for the CCF Walkathon. The joyous day begins at 9:00 a.m. when teams gather to greet their friends and families for one of the most love-inspired events of the year.

At 10:00 a.m. the event ribbon is cut in ceremonious style and many different families become one huge CCF family walking together to raise money to improve the survival rate of children with cancer and better the quality of life for those in treatment.

Whether you walk to honor or memorialize a beloved child or because you are impassioned to find a cure for cancer during your own lifetime, the CCF walkathon is the WALK TO WALK.

Come share a day filled with love, hope and passion for a cure. The Walk, just 3 miles long ends with live music, food and raffle prizes.

While a hugely inspiring festival of fun and feel-good moments, The Walk is really a celebration of the dedication and love put into growing and building your team of donors or walkers in the weeks beforehand.

Resister on our event website and create your very own easy-to-design homepage and share your commitment to find a cure for children's cancer. Download personal photos to your page, personalize your theme colors and write your own words of support, encouragement and wisdom to share with those who will become your team of walkers and/or donors.

Talk the Walk – tell everyone you know how you feel about a part of a cancer-free world and how they can help in some small way to help achieve that goal. It’s easy and safe to donate online with a credit card, communicate with your team and follow up with acknowledgements.

Talk the Talk – we're all in this together. Approximately 60 children in the Hudson Valley alone are diagnosed with cancer each year. The time is now to make a difference. Today, the 10-year survival rate for all forms of children’s cancer is almost 75%. That is a result of dramatic improvements achieved through treatment therapies in recent years but that number still leaves a lot of room for improvement. We need to make a difference and continue to improve the cure rate for all children with cancer.

Walk the Walk on Saturday, October 2, 2010 and make a difference by supporting CCF's mission to develop and participate in research that will lead to find cures for children's cancer, minimize treatment-related side effects and provide support to the children in treatment at Maria Fareri Children's Hospital, and at the satellite offices in Vassar Brother's Hospital and Danbury Hospital. Last year the walk was a great success generating over $110,000. This year with some luck, the sun will shine once again on our parade, matching the enthusiasm of the crowd and help us to exceed our goal of $150,000.
